MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Shelby County Schools says two security officers involved in a fight at Southwest Prep Academy have resigned.

In a video posted to Facebook on March 3, two girls fought in front of the school while security officers stood and watched the fight. A teacher had to help break things up after witnesses say the fight stopped and started more than once.

"Those two officers resigned yesterday as a result of an internal investigation," said SCS spokesperson Kristin Tallent.

SCS claims all officers are trained on a number of different scenarios. One student said officers normally break up fights much sooner.

"They break it up, and if they can't break it up, they pepper spray it," the student explained.

SCS says the response to the fight was unacceptable.

"Of course, that is not the type of response or behavior that we encourage our security guards to have in those types of situations," Tallent added. "Quite frankly, it's very unique for veteran officers to react that way."
