MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

U.S. Postal Inspectors are working with Memphis police to try and find a suspect wanted for robbing a mail carrier and two others March 23 at a Hickory Hill apartment complex.

Police say the mail carrier was assaulted at gunpoint in a breezeway. A Comcast worker was also robbed, in addition to a tenant smoking a cigarette on his porch.

"A gun got pointed to my face, but nobody took nothing," said resident Lemont Gatson.

Gatson doubts it was the same suspect who recently tried to rob him.

"For the people who do the robbing, they don't have no jobs, so they just looking for easy victims to get some money instead of applying for a job or what not," said Gatson.

As for the robberies this week, police are looking for one culprit who may face federal charges. Fortunately, postal inspectors say robberies of mail carriers are rare.

"But when they do occur they become a top priority for us and we're working in conjunction with the Memphis Police Department," said postal inspector Susan Link.

The postal service delivered flyers in the area as part of its investigation.

"To glean more information regarding the robbery," Link explained.

The apartment complex appears to be doing its part. WMC Action News 5 saw a security truck Wednesday evening as well as security guards walking through the parking lot.

The suspect is believed to be in his 20s. He was masked during the robberies.

If you can help police find this suspected robber, call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH (2274), text 'AWARD' to 274637 or visit www.528cash.org.
