Bartlett police have a man in connection to several thefts from area Walmart and Target stores in custody. Officers say the suspect would steal from the stores, then run from security guards.

On December 24, 2014, the man filled a Walmart bag with $119.13 worth of items and left the store at 8400 Highway 64 without paying. A Bartlett officer saw the man running through the parking lot. The suspect dropped the bag and ran across Highway 64. The suspect continued running after the officer yelled "police, stop" several times. The suspect ran into Sears and the officer did not find him.

The suspect was wearing gray pants, a gray Memphis Grizzlies hoodie, and American flag boxer shorts.

On Friday, March 20, around 3:45 p.m., the suspect was seen in Walmart again and was placing items into his pants pockets. He bought a candy bar, which was place in bag, then walked around the store taking items worth $132.53 from his pockets and putting them in the bag. He was leaving the store when a loss prevention officer asked for a receipt. He refused and ran toward Lowe's. He was wearing gray sweatpants and a dark-colored zip-up jacket. He has short hair and thin mustache, according to police.

Police say he is also responsible for at $1,500 in thefts from area Target stores, where he usually takes electronic items.

The suspect was never seen getting into a vehicle.
