MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A serial exhibitionist may be off the streets of Orange Mound.

Police say they saw 29-year-old Fred James expose himself directly across from a playground next to Melrose Stadium where children were playing.

James is only being held on a $100 bond after his arrest Wednesday, despite the number of calls about him exposing himself in the area.

"I wouldn't want my child to experience that," said Norris. "He need to serve a lot of time, for that."

Wednesday's arrest followed a complaint from another parent, when first officer to arrive says he saw James exposing himself and then chased him into an abandoned house. James was located hiding in a back bedroom.

According to an affidavit, the Memphis Police Department has received "10 dispatch calls where suspect Fred James had been exposing himself to children."

One neighbor, who did not want to be identified says James recently accosted two of her adult friends as well.

Apparently, James is known to squat in a number of vacant houses, all within walking distance of a school or playground.

James due in court Friday, and neighbors say they hope his bond is increased.
