TUNICA, MS (WMC) -

What is supposed to be a road in Nel-Win camp is now covered with water, and recent rainfall makes residents wonder what it is going to do to these flood waters.

"We'll either get in a boat or put our hip waders on, and when it starts getting over our head — we got to go," said Sharon Mallory.

That's what happened in 2011, when flood waters were so high, some homes went underwater. The only way to get around was by boat, and residents weren't allowed to even go into the area.

Cutoff resident J.T. Smith remembers those floods and says this flooding is does not compare.

"This year's not too bad so far, but it may not be over," said Smith.

If you leave the cutoff and try to take a trip to the Tunica cutoff, you won't get in. The gate is locked because the other end the road is covered with water.

Residents say the while flood waters do appear to be receding, they would like to see it all go away.
