MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Drivers who take Sam Cooper Boulevard daily have mixed feelings about its safety. But one thing is for sure both drivers who spoke WMC Action News 5 say there is not enough police presence.

Amy Spicer lives in Memphis and says after hearing of the many accidents on Sam cooper Blvd. lately, she is worried.

"I've seen accidents and people driving dangerously because it's a good path to get from downtown to wherever your going," said Spicer.

She says the accident that killed 67-year-old Florence Callaway should remind others to be careful in the area.

Spicer added, "There's not usually any cops and if there are, you can see them from a mile away."

However, Jonathan Mills says he does not think the number of accidents on Sam Cooper is out of the norm.

"No more than anywhere else. With all the construction going on around town, it's surprising there isn't more," noted Mills.

Drivers say since that since Sam Cooper is a straight road out of the city, it's important to stay alert at all times.
