MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A vague threat on social media was alarming enough for police to investigate a 12-year-old's reported threat against his school.

"I hate to hear that a child said that," said parent Roosevelt Fox. Fox has a seventh grader at Hickory Ridge Middle School, where police were called after a student posted a threat on Facebook.

"I'm just glad everybody is okay," Fox added.

According to police, the 12-year-old student posted a photo with a gun and said he planed to go to school and kill someone. Someone then reported the photo.

Shelby County Schools representatives say the threat was vague, but alarming enough to involve police. Officers came to the school and questioned the student.

Because the student was under close watch, classes were not disturbed and the school was never placed on lockdown.

SCS officials say the student has been disciplined and they are reminding parents to talk to their kids about what they post on social media.

Fox is glad someone reported the post and no one was hurt.

"I would have to have been where nobody said anything and he actually went forward with that action," Fox added. "I'm glad all the kids are okay. That's what matters to me."
