The son of a former MLGW CEO faces criminal charges after illegal drugs were delivered to his parents' house.

Joseph Lee IV is in jail on multiple drug charges. Investigators say he admitted to having marijuana and Lortab pills delivered through the mail for the past two years.

Memphis police officers caught him when he picked up a nearly six pound package of marijuana at his mom and dad's house.

Joseph Lee III, Lee IV's father, is currently the deputy director of Memphis Parks and Recreation.

Investigators say Lee IV's mother, Mona Lee, accepted and took the package of drugs inside. A short time later she put the package on the porch. That's when her son picked it up and moved it to the garage.

"Why would the son mail it to his parents' house?" neighbor Leslie McEwen said. "Why not mail it to your own house?"

Other neighbors say they're not sure about Lee IV's parents' role in the case.

"They're great neighbors," Terry Crosby said. "I've enjoyed living next to them and they've always been nice to me."

McEwen has lived next to the Lees for more than 10 years. She says her own son grows and sells marijuana legally in Colorado. She believes a child should never include their parents in their drug affairs--especially if it's illegal.

The Lees' house is located less than one minute away from an elementary school, which makes it a Drug Free School Zone. That means Lee IV could be charged with felony drug charges.

Mona Lee told police she had no idea what her son was doing.

"Let the police do their work," neighbor Terry Crosby said. "There's laws and if people comply with the laws, they don't have to worry about getting into trouble."

We did try to reach out to the Lee family and City of Memphis for comment. Neither of them responded.

Investigators searched Lee IV's home on Woodland Rose Circle. They found more than $1,300, a money counting machine, documents, and a drug ledger.

Lee IV is due in court on Thursday.
