Police charged a man in connection with the shooting that injured one person in a Kroger parking lot Thursday night.

The shooting happened at the Kroger on Getwell Road and Goodman Road around 9:30 p.m.

Shoppers like Sophia King are shocked to hear Brajun Williams is accused of shooting a man after an argument inside a car around 9:30 Thursday night.

"As a matter of fact. we moved here because it was more quiet from Memphis," said King.

While the Mississippi suburbs are typically quiet, people say no one is immune to crime.

"It's inevitable," said shopper Kevin Smith. "I mean, it's going to happen eventually, it's not a matter of if, it's just a matter of when." said shopper Kevin Smith.

Smith said he won't let the incident scare him away from his grocery routine.

"It's not going to deter me from living my life, in my community that I live in, not one bit," said Smith.

Williams, 21, is charged with aggravated assault. He is in jail on a $200,000 bond.

The victim was taken to Regional Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery. He is in stable condition, and is recovering at the hospital from the gunshot wound to his stomach.
