MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A crook was caught on camera creeping into a Memphis toy store, but it's no fun and games for the owners of the business. They've turned to social media in an effort to capture the criminal.

The crime happened around 3 a.m. Thursday at Bricks and Minifigs near Lakeland.

"We're everything Lego," said owner Mark Guttensohn.

Guttensohn and his wife opened the store last August. Like Lego, they're "rebuilding" after the burglary. Surveillance video shows the crook break the front door with a tire iron before crawling into the store.

"We're still getting on our feet, not making a lot of money," said Guttensohn. "And then to have someone come in and take what you've got, it's
kind of difficult."

The burglar rushed for the cash register, grabbed the cash drawer, and even pulled the printer off the counter as he left. An alarm alerted the owners at home and they actually watched him on their computer.

"Yep, we saw him leaving," said Guttensohn.

The cash drawer was still missing when WMC Action News 5's Jason Miles visited the store. Tape held together what the crook tore apart. But none of the Legos, some of which are worth quite a lot, were touched.

"Little hard to get rid of them on the street, I guess," said Guttensohn. "But there are some valuable Legos."

Police filed a report and are checking to see if similar crimes may be related. The owners also shared the surveillance video on Facebook and YouTube. Mobile users, click here to watch the surveillance video.

"Figure with social media and everything, get it out there," said Guttensohn.  "And there's a better chance someone's going to find out who it is."

Call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH (2274), if you know who the suspect might be.
