GERMANTOWN, TN (WMC) - One Houston High School senior and his family have a lot to be proud of. Ronald Nelson received acceptance letters from all eight Ivy League schools.
Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, University of Pennsylvania, Princeton, and Yale all want Nelson to attend their hallowed halls.
Nelson says his appetite for good grades started at an early age and really took off in high school.
"Academics did not always come easy to me, but throughout my four years of high school I've just had amazing teachers who have made it a lot easier," Nelson said.
Nelson currently holds a 4.5 weighted GPA. He's also a National Merit and National Achievement Scholar.
Nelson says his thirst for knowledge comes from his parents who gave him love, discipline, and direction.
"I've had hardworking parents all my life, and their parents have been hardworking and the drive they instilled in me has just meant a lot to me over the years."
A drum major and band scholar, Nelson tutors other students and helps keep the band in step. He's well liked by his peers and respected.
He says he hasn't decided on which college to go to yet.
"I'd say I'm probably leaning toward Harvard or Columbia, but it really all depends on financial aid."
As for career goals Nelson says he wants to go into medicine. He says his dream job would be to work as a plastic surgeon.
