7 dead in plane crash, including former Ole Miss coach

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A former Ole Miss assistant basketball coach died in a plane crash on his way back from the NCAA basketball tournament in Indianapolis.

Torrey Ward was the associate head coach at Illinois State. He went to Illinois State after several years of being an assistant coach at Ole Miss.

"We are saddened to hear about the loss of our former assistant coach Torrey Ward. Our hearts go out to his family. #AlwaysARebel," said a post sent from the Ole Miss men's basketball team's official Twitter account.

Ward was onboard a small plane with six other people. Rescue personnel found no survivors.

The Cessna 414 took off from Indianapolis and crashed just before reaching Central Illinois Regional Airport.

National Transportation Safety Board is looking into the cause of the crash.
