MILLINGTON, TN (WMC) - Shelby County sheriff's investigators are looking for the person who was caught on camera throwing garbage out of a truck on Gunn Road near Millington.

The area is filled with garbage, used diapers, and tires.

Danny Daniels with Shelby County Public Works says the problem is bad and getting worse. He says the garbage pollutes the water and the county has to clean it up.

Daniels says, “The filth with the rats and the mice and all the other critters, the disease creates health department issues.”

Photos of the person caught illegally dumping from the back of a pickup truck were captured from a camera hidden in a tree. It is one of many cameras the county and the city set up to catch illegal dumpers.

Marquest Jackson says it is a real problem near his neighborhood at Coleman Road and Bolen Huse Road. He and his son have even picked up the garbage.

People caught illegally dumping can face prosecution and a fine.

Meanwhile, Jackson has a message for people who litter.

“Don't leave it in the neighborhood and bring it. You stay here. It brings your property values down.  You only hurt yourself.”
