Midday update on potential for severe weather

Here is a quick update on the potential for some severe storms later this evening. The overall threat is an “enhanced” threat. Basically, this is between low and medium.

- Main threat is straight line wind up to 60 MPH.

- Small tornado threat

- Timing 6 p.m. and 3 a.m.

- Isolated storms possible from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. This is where the small threat for a tornado is possible.

- Main line from 9 p.m. in Memphis through 3 a.m. in North Mississippi. This is where the straight line wind threat is highest.

- There is also the potential for small hail with any storms.

- Intense lightning possible.
