SOUTHAVEN, MS (WMC) - Twenty-nine police officers from nine separate agencies rode through obstacles in the parking lot at Landers Center to prepare for the Mississippi Precision Police Motorcycle Competition on Saturday.

The event gives officers a chance to interact with one another while, at the same time, raising money for Make-A-Wish Foundation.

"To be a police officer you have to be competitive, so it works out to be a lot of fun," said rider Les Youngman. "You get nervous, but the more you do it the more you memorize it."

This will be the third year that the competition has been held in Southaven. Riders from all over Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana will be showing off their motorcycle skills.

Desoto County Sheriff Bill Rasco says it is an important day for the community to come out and meet those who work hard to protect them every day.

"Meet our guys and talk to them," said Rasco. "Get to know who's who and who's protecting you."

The competition will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday at Landers Center.
