Police investigate shooting near Westhaven Elementary School

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Three people were taken to the hospital after a shooting near Westhaven Elementary School on Saturday afternoon.

Police responded to the scene in the 400 block of Shelby Drive where they found a 21-year-old man who had been shot multiple times, hit by the suspects' car, then dragged over 600 feet to the intersection of Hodge Road and Windward Street.

Police say he was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

According to police, a 28-year-old man was also shot and a third man, who is 24, was hit by the suspects' car. They were both taken to the hospital in non-critical condition.

"It's crazy. I don't know," said a woman who works across the street from where the incident happened.. "There's too much going on. It's kind of scary though. You never know what's going to happen and to who and when. What's next? It's scary."

The suspects sped away from the scene, but officers were able to catch them in the 4900 block of Shayne Lane. Officers arrested Demarcus Oliver, 27, and Courtney Oliver, 32, who are brothers, and their cousin, Terrance Oliver, 36.

Demarcus Oliver was charged with criminal attempted first-degree murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a dangerous felony, convicted felon in possession of a gun, aggravated assault, and evading arrest.

Both Courtney Oliver and Terrance Oliver were charged with criminal attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, and evading arrest.
