Things got wild in Lakeland on Sunday when 950 bikers held a big bash.

Don't worry, it was wild in a good way. The Wild Pigs motorcycle club had its annual poker run and organizers guess nearly 1,000 people took part in the ride to help law enforcement officers in financial need.

If you were out on the streets Sunday, you probably crossed paths with some of them. It seemed like motorcycles were everywhere.

The poker run took the riders to several spots before ending up at a huge party on Old Brownsville Road. The neighborhood was full of the sounds of v-twin bikes and rock n' roll music coming from the live band.

Luckily, I live in the neighborhood and was able to scoot on down and check it out on my own bike. It was a beautiful day for riding, which led to a huge success for one of the season's first big biking events.

The Wild Pigs are all retired law enforcement officials, mostly Memphis Police Department officers. The local president of the Wild Pigs told me about one officer in particular who's going to benefit from all of the bikers who showed up.

Burt Allen said, "She had a lot of medical problems with some cancer. She was off the payroll for a while and can't afford the insurance at the rates the city is trying to charge. She's still got more surgeries and stuff to go through."

This was the 18th annual poker run. The Wild Pigs don't yet know how much money they raised for those officers. But, judging by the "full house" this poker run scored, you can bet they'll be able to make a big difference.
