MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -
Blog by WMC Action News 5 Assistant News Director Chris Best:
Motorcycle riders from across the Mid-South have been watching the calendar and the skies. After a few wet days and a rainy morning, there is good news. WMC Action News 5 morning meteorologist Andrew Kozak tells me things should be pretty dry in time for the first Bike Night on Beale of the season.
Andrew says most of the rain will be out of the area by early afternoon. You may catch a sprinkle or two on your ride in. A few roads may also still be damp. But overall, it should be a pretty dry evening with pleasant temperatures, too.
For those not aware of the Memphis motorcycle tradition, every make, model and style of bike you can imagine make appearances each Wednesday night from April 15 to September 6. Riders with crazy customs park next to little pink scooters, and they all get along.
Each Wednesday, the blues, country and rock n' roll pouring out of the Beale restaurants and clubs is drowned out by the sounds of engines. The sound is music to a biker's ears, but can make it tough to get some sleep in the nearby hotels. Several hotels even provide earplugs to their customers.
If you are looking for company, you can join the group ride tonight with Bumpus Harley Davidson. Kickstands go up at 6:30 from their Dealership on Whitten Road.
I'd love to see your bike if you make it out to Beale this riding season. Send your pictures to firstname.lastname@example.org.
