MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Saying goodbye to Kirsten Williams was hard for mourners at Soul Winners Baptist Church on Saturday morning.

"The angels called for her much sooner than we planned," said one attendant of the 7-year-old's funeral. "We will brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand. We love you Kirsten and we will miss you."

Classmates and teachers from Charjean Elementary School celebrated the young girl's life as they walked to the front of the ceremony and held up letters that spelled her name.

"You didn't have to tell her she had it going on, because she knew she had it going on," recalled the school principal. "She was self confident."

Kirsten was killed in her friend's driveway on April 10 when several men drove by the house on Durby Circle and started shooting.

Wednesday, police arrested three men charged with her murder.

During the eulogy, Pastor David Rhodes says Williams' death should not be in vain; the community and the city as a whole should focus on the problem of violent crime.

"Kristen's death is a wake up call to the mayor, city council, the DA's office," said Pastor Rhodes. "All government officials to do something and do it now."

Pastor Rhodes also had harsh words for those who killed Williams and others who bring violence to the community.

"Jesus says all who draw the sword will die by the sword."
