MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Two men were caught on camera robbing a Whitehaven tire shop in broad daylight.
The owner of the Third Tire Shop on South 3rd Street, Kamel Al Abes, says one of the men pulled a gun on him after he wouldn't give them a set of tires for the price he wanted. He says they even asked for him to give them the tires for free.
"I said, '$550 if you want them,'" recalled Abes. "They said, 'We don't have with just $400 if you want to sell it. I said, 'I cannot do that.'"
The owner says he's never seen the two men before.
After the man pointed a gun at the owner, the owner's 8-year old son entered the room and watched in fear.
The child, Ali Abes, says he was scared and upset.
"I didn't want anything to happen to my dad," he explained.
As the men yelled at his father, Ali Abes felt scared and helpless.
When asked what he would say to those responsible, he said, "Stop doing that and stop hurting people."
Kamel Al Abes says he keeps a gun in his office for safety, but he says he wasn't able to reach for the gun in time to defend himself. He added that he's installing more security.
"It needs to stop, please," Kamel Al Abes added. "Stop trying to hurt anyone. We have kids, we have families."
The two men left the shop with four tires, credit cards and cash. In the video, Abes and his son can be seen helping the men roll the tires out of the store.
"I was outside holding the tire and he just kicked me in my leg," Ali Abes recalled.
The family is now in fear; young Ali wishes he could have done more.
"It was really scary," said Al Abes. "All day yesterday, even night time, we couldn't sleep."
Police say the suspects drove off in a white Chevy pick up truck.
