MARSHALL CO., MS (WMC) -

At least a dozen trees are down and property damage litters Potts Camp after a storm blew through Marshall County.

Jesse Flick Ash, who has lived in Potts Camp since 1953, says he does not remember ever experiencing storm damage quite this bad.

“Part of my house has been blown away, too, in trees,” Ash said.

The storm swept through Potts Camp on Monday afternoon, with strong winds taking down dozens of trees, one of which landed in Ash's yard.

"We'll get those trees cut out of the way there, and the other place and fix it on back," he said.

Yet Ash considers himself lucky when comparing his damage to another house on Church Street.

Neighbors say the house is for sale and luckily, no one was home when the tree came down.

"It looks like it might have just come down the middle of town. There are limbs down all the way," a neighbor said. “If I don't like it, I am going to cut it.”

Residents say power was out in the area for nearly three hours.

Many residents are cleaning up and the trees will be removed once insurance companies can assess the damage.
