MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A festival celebrating the end of slavery will be held in Memphis in two weeks.

With all the festivities planned for the Juneteenth Heritage Festival, the big kickoff will be with a music awards ceremony.

"This year, we are honoring so many great artists from Memphis and the Barkays are receiving the Legend Award," organizer Telisa Franklin said.

Counting over 65,000 ballots, the Juneteenth Urban Music Awards have been a big hit for the Memphis community.

"I was excited because that means Memphis was excited to celebrate Memphis artists," Franklin said.

Memphis is excited to celebrate the day of freedom from slavery, which was on June 19, 1865.

Along with the award show, there will be a pre-show and a children's fashion show for the public to enjoy.

There are tickets still available for purchase. You can log onto www.memphisjuneteenth.com for more information.

The Juneteenth Urban Music Awards will be held on June 18, 2015 in the Hilton Hotel at 7:30 p.m.
