A Whitehaven man is behind bars on charges after he shot his wife at her workplace.

Court documents show that Tandrea Bates was taking a nap on a couch at Robinson Care Home in Whitehaven when she awoke to see her husband, Luegean Bates, standing over her with a gun.

She says he threatened to kill her and then shot her in the leg.

Although no one at the home would comment on the incident, the neighbors had a lot to say.

“It's just crazy. It's just crazy. People these days just do things,” neighbor Thomas Miles said.

"He ain't supposed to be that jealous. She probably put him out or something,” neighbor Arthur Toles said.

That is exactly what happened. Bates told police she threw her husband out of their home earlier in the week.

He's now in jail on a $25,000 bond and charged with Aggravated Assault. He's due in court June 12.
