MEMPHIS, TN (AP) - A group of Mid-South teens are spending part of their summer volunteering.

The teens are participating in the national Catholic HEART Workcamp at Helping Hands of St. Louis Outreach Center in Toledo, Ohio.

Over 100 high school students are joining teens from Minnesota, Ohio, Tennessee, and Illinois to help improve a local soup kitchen, food pantry, and clothing center.

They will also be putting new tile in the play area, hanging gutters, painting, cleaning, and pulling weeds in Helping Hand's new community garden.

Catholic HEART Workcamp began in Orlando, Florida in 1993 with 100 participants. Now it has grown to over 13,000 participants nationwide.
