FAYETTE COUNTY, TN (WMC) - A two day manhunt came to an end Thursday night when investigators found the man they were looking for in a wooded area off Poindexter Road in Fayette County, Tennessee.

Hours earlier, a man in handcuffs tried to break into a Fayette County, Tennessee house. Investigators think that man is the same man who escaped a traffic stop Wednesday.

Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) officers pulled James Skaggs over on I-40 East at mile marker 40 at 3:13 p.m. on Wednesday after THP received several calls of reckless driving for a 2000 White GMC Yukon which belonged to Skaggs.

THP ran a driver's license check and detained Skaggs, placing him in handcuffs. Just after this, he escaped running southeast into the woods.

Several local law enforcement agencies went out to help search for Skaggs, but they did not find him Wednesday night.

A man matching Skaggs' description attempted to break into a house around noon Thursday on Sinai road near Highway 59.

However, a woman was home and scared him away.

She described Skaggs as the intruder, adding that his hands were together in front of him.

Thursday night, investigators caught up with Skaggs in a wooded area off of Poindexter Road near I-40. Skaggs was taken into custody without incident.
