The Memphis Grizzlies held their final draft workout Monday morning as the team prepares to look for a new player on June 25th.
This workout was heavy with first round hopefuls, including stretch big men Christian Wood of UNLV and Jonathan Holmes from Texas.
Wood is a 6-foot-11 stretch power forward. His skinny 216-pound frame will need bulking up to fit in within the NBA game, but his shooting skills were impressive. Grizzlies assistant coach Bob Thornton was impressed with Wood's athleticism, but said he would need more work on his post play and footwork to fit in within the Grizzlies scheme.
Holmes is built more to the size of a traditional big man at 6-foot-9, 242 pounds, but also has a smooth shooting stroke. Both big men hit threes consistently during the workout.
Kentucky star Aaron Harrison led a group of guards in what assistant coach Bob Thornton called a very balanced workout.
Guards Corey Walden of Eastern Kentucky and "Speedy" Smith of Louisiana Tech also participated. Forward Jamal Jones, a Texas A&M product who played in the D-League last season filled out the workout.
