Congressman Cohen announces nearly $3 million in funding for St. Jude

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Congressman Cohen announced 4 federal grants, equaling $2,936,706, for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This funding, through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will be used for a variety of programs and research projects. 

“This funding will be used to continue important work at St. Jude, one of the world's finest health care institutions,” said Congressman Cohen in a written statement. 

The funding includes: 

$2,056,188 from HHS' National Cancer Institute to study normal and neoplastic growth in the brain. 

$369,205 from HHS' National Institute of Aging to study RNA slicing dysfunction in Alzheimer's disease. 

$338,200 from HHS' National Institute of General Medical Sciences to study BCL2 family protein interactions in cellular survival states.

 $173,133 from HHS' National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases to study training in the design and development of infectious disease therapeutics.
