MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A new energy saving program by the Tennessee Valley Authority and MLGW not only helps save money, but it can also improve your health.

eScore is a new program developed to provide homeowners with a simple way to cut down energy bills. Through eScore, inspections and installations are performed and offered by members of a local quality contractor network.

The program offers rebates and rewards to encourage you to raise your eScore.

“You can use these rebates to help buy down the initial cost when you enter the program,” eScore program manager Christopher Smith said.

Energy Upgrade contractors were at Megan Sampson's home Wednesday to give her an energy audit using infrared technology.

“When they showed up the infrared lights, it's amazing how much air is escaping through the ducts,” Sampson said.

One of the key factors in keeping an energy efficient home is making sure your ducts are not leaking.

Contractors taught Sampson about the cost savings and added benefits of having healthy air quality.

“It can help with allergies, and that was one of the things we weren't talking about. I was thinking utility bill,” she said.
