MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Ladarrius Evans was shot 13 times and lived. It took nearly two months, but his suspected attacker is now in police custody.

Evans' sister Stephanie Brown hasn't slept well for almost two months.

“Now that they got him, I can sleep peacefully.”

On April 28, police say Cecil Perry shot Evans 13 times and left him for dead.

Evans was released from the hospital Thursday afternoon.

He wore sunglasses because his left eye was removed. He still can't talk very well. He has severe injuries after being shot in the head, stomach, and legs.

Evans told police who shot him. He then picked Perry out of a photo lineup.

Evans said he and Perry were arguing at Jehl Place and Decatur Street around 8:30 at night. Suddenly, Perry started shooting him and robbed him of $500.

One neighbor said he remembers that night. He thought he was hearing firecrackers.

He heard moaning and saw Evans lying on the sidewalk. He called 911 and then wrapped Evans in a blanket and waited for the ambulance.

Brown remembers the horror of seeing her brother.

“It's devastating for me, and it's terrifying for me.”

Evans wants justice. He wants Perry punished.

His sister is more specific.

“I want him to go to jail for life," Brown said. "I mean what I said. I want him to be in jail for life.”

Police arrested Perry and charged him with attempted first-degree murder and especially aggravated robbery.
