CHARLOTTE, NC (WMC) -
It's the rags-to-riches movie that made Michael Oher a household name, but the former Ole Miss All-American says The Blind Side actually had a negative impact on his football career.
In an interview with ESPN, the Carolina Panthers left tackle says since the 2009 movie, people view him a certain way instead of seeing his skills and the kind of player he really is.
A first round draft pick of the Ravens in 2009, Oher helped Baltimore win a Super Bowl in 2012, but he has struggled with injuries since signing a five-year, $20 million deal with the Tennessee Titans in 2014.
Carolina isn't buying into the NFL bust talk.
The Panthers signed Oher to a two-year, $7 million deal this offseason.
No matter what Oher thinks of the movie, it was a mega hit.
The Blind Side grossed more than $300 million, and Sandra Bullock took home an Oscar and a Golden Globe award for her performance.
