Grizzlies Green picks up player option for 2015-16

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Grizzlies forward Jeff Green will exercise his player option keeping him with Memphis for the 2015-16 season.

It's no surprise really, considering Green likely would not eclipse the 9.2 million he's set to make next year on the open market.

The Grizzlies got the 6'9'' Green in a three-team trade Jan. 12, and he averaged 13.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 45 games with Memphis, including a team best 39.8 percent from 3-point range after the All-Star break.

But his production lagged in the playoffs, where he averaged just 8.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists.

The Boston Celtics originally drafted Green fifth overall in 2007.

He started 432 of his 556 games with Seattle, Oklahoma City, Boston, and Memphis.
