He was maybe the best kept secret coming out of Memphis 2 years ago, but now you can bet NBA teams know who Cameron Payne is, especially those with lottery picks.
The Lausanne product's life is about to change in a big way next week's NBA draft.
The Murray State point guard is projected by several outlets as a lottery pick, and definite first rounder.
As a senior at Lausanne, he led the Lynx to a state title.
Then as a sophomore at Murray, Payne was named OVC player of the year, averaging 20 points and 6 assists a game while helping the Racers win 25 straight games.
The word from Draft Express says Payne has decent size for a NBA point guard at 6-2, with big hands and 6-7 wingspan, both attributes NBA teams love in a guard.
He did suffer a broken finger on his non-shooting hand 2 days ago in a workout with Denver, but his agent says the injury is not serious.
The NBA draft is Thursday night.
