Eric Rodgers' parents say they have many questions surrounding his death. They say they have multiple stories from police and now they want answers.

Rodgers was riding on the back of a scooter when police say he crashed and died on his way to the hospital. Rodgers' mother says when she arrived on the scene, police told her they were looking for a black vehicle involved in the crash.

"I felt like I couldn't move,” she said. “I was empty and paralyzed, like I was dreaming. I was like, ‘this is not my child.'"

Later Saturday night, the story changed and police said the car and the scooter did not make contact.

"My son's skull was crushed, and it wasn't just by a fall," Rodgers' mother said.

She added that investigators are working to find out what actually happened to him. However, because everyone who rode on the scooters are minors, she fears that the teenagers may be afraid to talk.

"The incident report doesn't even show there are other people involved," she said. “"Whoever was riding with him was holding him like ‘Please don't let him die.'"

Family members said they are trying to keep his memory alive. His parents ask anyone who may know what happened or may have seen the accident to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 901-528-CASH, texting 'AWARD' to 274637 or visiting

“He was amazing and I think God for the 15 years I did have with him.”
