A Mid-South summer camp shut down, leaving parents to foot the bill and find another place for their children to enjoy the summer.

Be Inspired Cultural Arts is a summer camp group that claims to operate performing arts programs and camps in several states, but Better Business Bureau, or BBB, said it has taken parents' hard-earned money and closed several camps without warning.

The camp's website lists the company's address as 1661 International Drive, Suite 400 in Memphis.

BBB said it received eight complaints in June alone from customers in Tennessee, Georgia, and Texas. Each complaint surrounds allegations that the camp did not have advertised programs, enough staffing, or in some cases closed after taking money but before accepting students.

This is not the first time the Memphis-based summer camp has had problems. Many parents complained about the company in 2013.

If you're picking a summer camp for your children there are several things you should keep in mind.

How long has the camp been in business?

Did previous campers and their parents have good experiences at the camp?

Is your deposit refundable?

Are there extra costs for certain activities?

What is included in tuition?
