MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

The bus company contracted with Shelby County Schools could learn its fate Tuesday.

Durham School Services' contract with SCS is nearly up, but the district is considering renewing the contract for another two years.

This comes after a rough few years for the bus company. WMC Action News 5 investigations revealed Durham drivers were at fault in more than half of the nearly 300 bus accidents in the last three years.

The proposed new contract for Durham School Services would essentially give the company a $2.3 million raise. The contract increases from $25.9 million to $28.2 million.

It also includes a four-year extension option as an incentive that can only be activated if Durham meets certain performance metrics. Those metrics include improved arrival and departure times for students as well as a reduction in the number of school bus accidents.

The school board considered the contract extension in May, but the vote was delayed and pushed back to Tuesday night. The board's meeting is scheduled for 5:30.
