MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A valuable member of the Shelby County Sheriff's Office went into retirement.

Kix, a K-9 officer, played a major role in tracking down leads in some of the Mid-South's highest-profile murder cases.

Officer Kix helped find the body of former Memphis Grizzlies player Lorenzen Wright and assisted in the searches for Heather Palumbo-Jones and Holly Bobo.

Sheriff Bill Oldham presented Kix with a certificate and plaque at his retirement ceremony.

Kix seemed to enjoy the party, attended by friends such as Sheriff Oldham, members of the Emergency Services unit, and his long-time partner.
