An online post has some residents in the South Main area on alert.
Concerned residents took to the online neighborhood watch site Nextdoor.com, and one post claims up to nine recent robberies took place in the area.
After speaking with police, WMC Action News 5 learned only two recent robberies happened in the area, one of which was mentioned in the post.
"Everything that happens in our community concerns me," said resident Shantill Franklin.
One robbery took place on the patio of the restaurant S.O.B. Reportedly, after asking for directions, the robbers pulled a gun on the victims and robbed them of money and purses.
Another robbery happened at the corner of Talbot and Mulberry Street. According to police, the victims not only had to hand over their money, but one of them was pistol whipped.
"If it's one, if it's nine, it's still a concern for the community," Franklin added.
But many in the community said regardless of the quantity, these events are a reminder not to panic but to be watchful.
"Have people walk us to our cars, or just be more aware of our surroundings. But I would say I definitely still feel safe," resident Kaylea Vaughn said.
Police have descriptions of the suspects in these two robberies, but if you have any information about these crimes you are urged to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 901-528-CASH (2274), texting 'AWARD' to 274637 or visiting www.528cash.org. ?
