MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The sold out Elma Roane Fieldhouse was filled to the max for the first of what the University of Memphis hopes will be an annual Alumni Basketball game.

Players from back in the day split into blue and white teams, with the younger guys on the blue team and a Penny Hardaway-led "veterans" team in white.

Penny Hardaway and D.J. Stephens are always fan favorites, and received the loudest ovations.

Stephens showed off the athleticism that made him a household name during his time at Memphis, throwing down the dunks, while teammate Chris Crawford lit it up from 3.

Crawford scored a game high 24 points and Hardaway added 13.

A portion of the proceeds from the game will be donated to St. Jude Research Hospital and the National Kidney Foundation.

But this game was really about getting the fans excited.
