A controversial tweet put a former University of Memphis professor under fire.

Dr. Zandria Robinson tweeted, "Whiteness is most certainly and inevitably terror." She also tweeted that whites are conditioned to commit mass murder.

When Paiying Beasley saw some of the tweets from Zandria Robinson's page she was surprised.

“That's really surprising that she is teaching psychology, sociology. Oh my God, sociology, communication with people. Yeah, that's kind of shocking from what I'm reading from her Twitter page,” Beasley said.

Her controversial tweets about white people caught the attention of what she called conservative writers like SoCawlege out of Washington D.C.

Some of the tweets have really rough language about those writers.

"If you are a professional person, I just don't think there's a place in a professional world for things like that,” Memphian Cheryl O'Bannion said. “That's why we try to treat people in the world to respect everybody. Just be nice to everybody."

The writers targeted Robinson because she taught at the University of Memphis, a public school funded with taxpayer dollars.

The university's only comment was "Robinson is no longer employed at the University of Memphis."  There was no explanation of what happened.

Robinson tweeted that she was not fired, but she has a "contract" job and left the university.
