MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

The Memphis Fire Department is investigating a gas leak in an office building.

Firefighters responded to 88 Union Avenue to look into what may have caused the leak. They have blocked traffic on Union Avenue between Main Street and Front Street. Main Street is also blocked near Union Avenue.

About 100 people were evacuated from three buildings, including the Mesquite Chop House restaurant.

Memphis Light, Gas and Water confirmed they are working on a gas leak in the area, but could not provide more details.

The cause of the leak is currently unknown. Firefighters are currently shutting off the gas to the building.
