MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

After nine handguns and an AK-47 were stolen from his home, one man said he is leaving the Memphis area.

Rick Kolasinski has collected guns since he was young. That is why he had so many guns in his home on Guernsey Avenue.

He said when he lived in Bartlett two years ago, someone stole several weapons from his gun collection. Thursday, he faced a similar situation in the Berclair area.

The thieves got into the house through a broken window. They climbed in and stole the weapons.

Kolasinski said nothing else was taken, and he thinks the suspects will be fairly conspicuous.

"They took an AK-47. Who you got walking down the street with an AK-47? It's obvious," Kolasinski said.

This theft means those guns are now on the street. That's a frightening prospect.

Additionally, weapons stolen in two separate incidents in Downtown Memphis on Monday are also out in the open.

A few weeks ago, more firearms were reported stolen in DeSoto County.

"What if a kid gets ahold of one?" one neighbor asked.

Investigators have not recovered any of the stolen weapons, but police said they are working on a few leads.
