MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

More non-stop flights are coming to Memphis.

American Airlines will add two daily nonstop flights between Memphis International Airport (MEM) and New York's LaGuardia Airport (LGA), beginning November 5.

Tickets for these flights will go on sale July 4.

“This is a huge positive development for the Memphis International Airport,” said Pace Cooper, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners for the Memphis Shelby-County Airport Authority (MSCAA), in a written statement. “Adding two more flights to the New York market provides our passengers with more choices and greater connectivity. For Americans to choose the Memphis route for their precious slots at LaGuardia speaks to the success of our efforts to sell Memphis as a desired destination.”

American Airlines is the largest carrier in Memphis in terms of flights, with 26 flights per day scheduled in August.

The LGA flights would bring that total to 28 flights per day.
