5 Great things that happened in the Mid-South this week

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A rainy start to the holiday weekend can't overshadow the great week we've had in the Mid-South.

1. Marc Gasol

All over Memphis, people are banding together to keep Big Spain in the Bluff City.

Pop singer Justin Timberlake and filmmaker Craig Brewer premiered a video dedicated to Gasol Monday on grizzlies.com.

2. Elvis Forever Stamp

The King of Rock N' Roll's face will forever be enough to send a letter. The US Postal Service previewed the Music Icons: Elvis Presley Commemorative Forever stamp Thursday.

3. Non-Stop Flights to LGA

American Airlines announced their plans to add two new flights to the Big Apple, just in time to see the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center.  Starting November 5, the airline will offer two nonstop flights out of Memphis to LaGuardia Airport.

4. Feeding the Need

MLGW employees kicked off their holiday weekend by giving back. Several employees handed out boxes filled with food to a hundred people. The food will last at least a week or two.

5. Free Fourth of July events

There's no better way to celebrate this country's freedom than at a free event on Independence Day.  There are many events to choose from this year!

Thanks for making this another great week in the Mid-South.
