MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Family members said Shantee Thompson is devastated after her high school sweetheart was shot and killed Monday morning.

"She went to sleep for like 30 minutes, now she's back up again crying," Thompson's mother JoMae Davis said.

Thompson's boyfriend, 19-year-old Montel Price, died after being shot outside his home in Binghampton. Thompson's sister said she lost more than a boyfriend. The couple was expecting a baby.

"What is she going to tell her baby?" Thompson's sister asked.

A second person was also injured in the shooting on East Red Oak Drive. He drove himself to St. Francis Hospital; he was admitted in non-critical condition.

Police are investigating the shooting as a murder, but have not said yet if the two victims knew each other.

Witnesses said they saw someone in a car shooting from outside the gates of the apartment. The person drove into the apartment complex and continued shooting.

Police said the gunman is still on the run.

"If anybody knows anything, please come forward," Thompson's sister added. "No matter what--that baby--he didn't deserve that. He didn't deserve it at all."

Meanwhile, Thompson, her family, and many others are praying for the strength to deal with this tragic situation.

"Her crying, it's just terrible," Davis said. "People get killed everyday in Memphis, and they don't even care. They don't care. How can you just go around and kill people and have no feelings for it? It's just sad."

If you know anything that might help police with the investigation, call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH  (2274), text 'AWARD' to 274637 or visit www.528cash.org.
