MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

During the sixth season of American Idol, Elvis Presley made a guest appearance.

Nearly 30 years after his death, the King of Rock n' Roll sang a live duet with Celine Dion on April 25, 2007.

Through the magic of television, millions of people saw and heard the pair sing 'If I Can Dream,' a song Elvis made famous during his 1968 NBC TV Special.

After the performance, millions wondered how American Idol made the performance look so real.

Some people thought Elvis was a hologram or a clever use of green screen technology, but neither guesses proved correct.

American Idol said Dion sang with a Las Vegas Elvis tribute artist. The production crew then used technology to replace his face with images of the real Elvis.

The crew used close ups and wide shots mixing in when they showed the tribute artist's body and Elvis'.
