MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A tour bus caught fire on I-40 westbound at Sycamore View.

According to the Memphis Fire Department, no one was injured during the fire.  Police said everyone was able to get off the bus.

Fire crews blocked the right two lanes of the interstate.

TDOT cameras revealed another tour bus pulled to the side of the road in front of the burning bus.

MFD added that MATA will provide shelter-in-place for about 55 people.

Passengers were tourists visiting Memphis from Baltimore. They said it all started when they heard a pop.

"We heard another pop, and then the bus caught on fire," passenger Tyreese Wheems said.

They were heading to see the Lorraine Motel, Beale Street, Graceland and take a trip to the casinos in Tunica.

"I kept saying to the driver 'Something is burning,'" passenger Marie White-Woodall said. "He said 'No it ain't.' He looked back. He said 'Get off the bus.' I was a little panicked there, but we kept everybody calmed down."

When the bus caught fire, the temperature outside was 95 degrees with a heat index near 105. In Baltimore at the time, it was mid-to-low 80s with rain.

Paramedics had some people on stretcher while others dreaming of their vacation in Memphis sat for almost two hours on their luggage in the grass next to the interstate with no place to escape the sun as the badly burned bus sat nearby.

"I'm going to say blessed cause we could have been burnt up on that bus," White-Woodall said.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown and under investigation.
