More summer sizzle and a heat advisory

Heat Advisory until 7PM Tuesday Heat Advisory until 7PM Tuesday

Heat and Humidity continue across the Mid-South this week.

The National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory for a large portion of the central United States, including the WMC Action News 5 coverage area.  This advisory will be in effect at least through 7 p.m. Tuesday, meaning that afternoon heat index values will reach 105 degrees or higher each day. Although actual high temperatures will be in the mid-90s, the humidity will make it feel much hotter.

People should take proper precautions to avoid heat related illness this week, including staying hydrated and remaining in air conditioned areas.

If you are working outside this week, be sure to take frequent breaks.

Meanwhile, rain chances will remain low this week so there will be little in the way of relief from the heat.  Temperatures will get even hotter over the weekend, so be prepared for the extreme heat to last a while in the Mid-South.
