MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Memphis police are investigating three crime scenes within a mile-and-a-half of each other.

The violence started Monday night at a gas station near the intersection of Lamar Avenue and South Parkway.

Police said two men got into an argument. One pulled out a knife and started stabbing the other.

The man died at the hospital shortly after midnight. Police are still searching for the man who stabbed him.

Several blocks away, at the intersection of Buntyn Street and Douglass Avenue, officers found at least five shell casings and a man lying dead on the sidewalk.

Police said it looked like a "gun battle" took place in the area. They are still investigating to try to develop a description of the shooter.

Then, at the corner of Pendleton Street and Deadrick Avenue, a third round of violence took place.

A witness told police he saw someone run up behind a man in the parking lot and open fire.

The victim was shot three times. He went to the hospital in critical condition.

Investigators have no indication that these crimes are related. They are still investigating all three.
