MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Dangerous temperatures are expected throughout the week in the Mid-South.

The extended heat advisory has the City of Memphis taking precautions.

All Memphis community centers are now serving as cooling centers during business hours. The city also suggests spending time at libraries, malls or other air conditioned public spaces.

MLGW is activating its Special Reconnection Program. Eligible customers should call 901-544-MLGW to get reconnected.

Anyone without utility service can pay 250 plus a reconnection fee toward their outstanding balance to re-establish power.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mark Castellaw with Baptist Medical Group said people with blood pressure, heart, lung, and diabetic medicines are most vulnerable to heat stroke and other illnesses.
