Air conditioners donated to help keep Memphis cool

As part of the Keeping Memphis Cool initiative, Electrolux donated state-of-the-art energy-efficient air conditioning units to Memphians in need.

“Today it was all about neighbor to neighbor," Ephie Johnson with the Neighborhood Christian Centers said. "We’re helping people who maybe have a situation where they cannot work, or they are physically unable to work, so they need air conditioning. So we’ve provided that to those people. Then we have home owners, already trying to make it everyday, trying to pay those bills and still need air conditioning.”

“I think it’s going to cool me down. Look at me now, I’m sweating," Ronald Cole said. "It looks like someone poured water on me.”

“It’s important that we have neighbors like Electrolux that pour out their hearts--not just in bringing jobs to the city but helping out the less fortunate," Johnson said.

"These types of gifts make a difference one life at a time. So we are so proud that they’ve chosen Memphis and proud to be a partner with them for three years running, and it’s just been a blessing.”

“I think it’s a wonderful group and they are doing a wonderful job," Cole said.

Electrolux donated air conditioning units in partnership with Neighborhood Christian Centers.

Recipients were prescreened and priority given to households with seniors 60 and older, disabled residents and those who have been laid off from work or are on medical leave.
